Notes and summaries: The first journal is a record of Howard Egan’s part in the 1847 Mormon emigration from Florence, Nebraska to Salt Lake City, lists the members of the group, notes supplies and distances, and quotes Brigham Young’s sermons. The second journal describes an 1847 return to Nebraska and the plans for Salt Lake City. The third journal records an 1849-50 trip from Fort Utah (Provo) to California. Egan kept the last journal while cattle trading in California in 1855.
