Howard Egan’s 200th Jubilee Celebration
Egan Variety Show
Evening, June 13, 2015
On Saturday evening, June 13th, more than 500 Egan descendants attended our final event, the Egan Variety Show, commemorating “The Many Lives Of Major Howard Egan.”
The show, highlighting Egan’s life adventures, was MC’d by comedian, James Arrington.
It began with Irish musicians and two troupes of Irish Dancers.
Then sing-along Sailor songs.
To celebrate Howard’s rope-making ventures, we had a rope-making demonstration.
Children’s Choir
sang Mormon and
Temple-Builder songs.
To commemorate Egan’s Bodyguard & Nursing experiences, James Arrington told the famous story: “Father’s Indian Doctor.”
To remember Howard’s 1847 Pioneer Trek, the Egan Children sang: “To Be a Pioneer” and “The Handcart Song.”
Being a Mormon Battalion Envoy was remembered with a sing-along anthem.
The Cattleman & Trail Blazer period was commemorated with a sing-along Cowboy Song: “Oh Susanna.”
And to celebrate Howard’s Pony Express period, “Pony Express Poetry,” written by David Rhodes, was read by his brother.
The final number was a newly written, sing-along Egan Anthem, written by Elayne Allebest
